LOVELY QUALITY ANTIQUE ENGLISH 18K GOLD DIAMOND LAPIS LAZULI BROOCH PIN c1890

This superb quality brooch effortlessly bridges the gap between art and function - a pinnacle of design that looks better the closer you get. Made of rich, buttery yellow solid 18 carat gold, its central bar is bordered by applied gold beading, and set with three stunning sparkling white old mine-cut diamonds of incredible quality and character. Their vivacity and eagerness contrasts with the main event of this piece - the natural lapis lazuli orbs.

Perfectly formed, they're polished spheres and their intense cobalt blue colour is fabulously deeply saturated and pure - they match perfectly with the overall quality here. Dating to around 1890, the brooch is unmarked but I suspect due to the quality, it was made by an important craftsman. It weighs in at 4.8 grams and measures just shy of 1.75 long, making it easy to wear and not too loud on an item of clothing. It's in near perfect antique condition, with no loss or damage and a lovely patina throughout.
